Carrie Roberts-Poppe is one of the founders of Hemma Concrete. Late in 2001, after 6 years in the IT industry Carrie decided to follow in her father’s footsteps and do something she loved. She founded Hemma Design Build, a homebuilding and remodeling company. About a year after founding Hemma Design Build, Carrie was working on her first spec house and her husband Travis found himself without a job.
The couple put their heads together and with little to no start-up capital and a whole lot of hard work, Hemma Concrete, Inc. was founded. They had no idea that the small residential driveway company would become what it is today.
Between the years of 2007 and 2011 the Roberts family became a family of five with the births of their oldest son Trey, middle daughter Piper and their youngest son Jake. Carrie stayed at home with the kids for a number of years while Travis continued to grow the business. In 2013 Travis was diagnosed with a rare cancer called Cholangiocarcinoma. After a 14 month fight he sadly passed away with Carrie and other family and friends by his side.
Carrie is now remarried to Aaron Poppe and they are raising Trey, Piper and Jake together while both working at Hemma Concrete. Carrie returned to Hemma in 2016 and has enjoyed working with the Hardscape Project Management team, with emphasis on improving systems management.
